Preparing and organizing a surprise party is always a challenge, especially if a person you are trying to surprise lives with you.

Well, today was the first time ever that I threw a surprise birthday party for anyone.  It was a special birthday for Elizabeth and thus a special occasion for it.

It took planning and cooperation (along with a few well-meaning deceptions) by some of her other family members for the party to come off as a surprise. And it worked.

Take a look at Elizabeth’s face as she entered the house.  And then also under the Piñata I got her, along with a birthday cake, from our favorite Mexican market on the west side of Phoenix. By the time Elizabeth finally realized what was going on, she was all choked up and in tears.

Here are some pictures from this memorable occasion at our Scottsdale home.
